Sea World is much more than family fun and entertainment. Sea World's Research & Rescue team takes on countless whale, dolphin and turtle rescues each year and participates in valuable research into the marine environment.

More than 36,000 students flock through the park each year as part of marine, tourism and maths educational studies. Sea World Education can cater for individual learning tours, lectures and large school groups. Meeting the marine mammal handlers and Sea World's marine stars can also be arranged with prior notice. Sea World is the ideal marine educational environment.

Sea World's history is traced back to 1958 when the original Ski Gardens were established on the Nerang River west of Surfers Paradise. This show was transferred to the present site (Sea World Drive, the Spit, Main Beach) with added man-made attractions and opened on 30 October, 1971.

After being judged Australia's top attraction in 1986, 1989, 1990 and 1991, it has been honoured in the Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame.

Apart from family fun and entertainment, Sea World provides a magical, sea-faring setting for conventions, special functions and meetings to cater from 50 to 5,000 people.

Choices include the Paradise Room and Top Terrace overlooking the ski lake, the Broadwater Room beside the calm Southport Broadwater, the circular Endeavour Bar, and the colonial atmosphere of the Plaza area.

For the unique function, convention or incentive, guests can consider the awesome Shark Bay, idyllic Dolphin Cove or the replica of Captain Cook's Endeavour.
